Manny Garrun, the founder of our company, became one of the first agents of Liberty Life in the early 1960s. Little did he know that he was building the foundation of a business that would grow into one of the largest independent insurance brokerage groups in South Africa.
The success of Garrun Group can be attributed to the vision and values set forth by Manny all those years ago. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, his children followed in his footsteps, and thus, Manny Garrun & Sons was established.
In 1994, Garrun Group was formed and began an acquisition-oriented growth strategy, resulting in a majority shareholding in various regional and specialist brokerages.
Calibrate Ventures, a South African alternative asset management firm, acquired a substantial minority stake in the Garrun Group in 2019.

Our Business Model prioritises integrating branch support services into a centralised Head Office environment.
For Garrun Group, this office is located in Johannesburg. This approach ensures that key areas of the Group's activities receive a responsive and efficient support service.
Garrun Group was founded in 1994 by Cliff Garrun, who currently serves as the Group's Executive Chairman. With over 42 years of experience in the short-term insurance industry, Cliff recognised the future relevance of combining a full-service broker model with the highest level of technical advice and personalised service.
Thanks to his astute business acumen, the Group has grown into one of the largest independent short-term brokerages in South Africa.
