A Journey of Growth with the IIG Class of 2025: Nare Sethosa’s Experience
The Insurance Institute of Gauteng’s (IIG) Class of programme has long been recognised as a career-defining opportunity for young insurance professionals. Designed to nurture leadership skills, industry knowledge, and personal growth, the Class of 2025 has once again brought together a cohort of dynamic individuals eager to make their mark in the industry.
Among them is Garrun's Nare Sethosa, whose journey reflects both the challenges and opportunities the programme offers.
For Nare, being selected for the IIG Class of 2025 was more than just an accolade, it was a doorway to growth. “Being selected means an opportunity to develop skills on how to build relationships and carry yourself professionally,” he explains. Inspired by the programme’s focus on leadership, industry exposure, and professional development, Nare saw it as the perfect platform to refine his skills and expand his horizons.
When asked what excited him most, Nare points out that all aspects of the programme had something to offer. From leadership development to working alongside peers, he highlights the importance of exposure. “Exposure is important because it teaches how and when to lead, understand different personalities, and meet inspiring peers in the industry,” he says.
Working within his group has been a rewarding challenge. “The programme takes you out of your comfort zone, which is valuable because daily life often traps you in routines without new challenges,” Nare reflects. This shift has not only broadened his perspective but also sharpened his ability to collaborate, adapt, and lead in diverse settings.
The impact of the programme has been significant, both personally and professionally. On a personal level, Nare has learned the importance of self-reflection, patience, effective time management, and intentional communication. Professionally, he credits the experience with strengthening his conflict resolution and leadership skills - tools he now applies in managing responsibilities more effectively.
This newfound confidence has already translated into practical results. “The programme has taught me so much that I feel prepared to manage tasks which I wouldn’t have been able to do without these skills,” Nare shares.
As the programme nears its conclusion, Nare is both excited and grateful. He encourages other young professionals to take full advantage of the opportunity: “I implore young industry professionals to go through this programme not just as a tick box, but as new entrants eager to learn about the industry. The programme is phenomenal and amazing for professional growth.”
With the IIG Class of 2025 experience now firmly part of his journey, Nare Sethosa stands as an example of how commitment, openness to growth, and the right platform can transform a career. His story is not just about personal achievement but also about the value of investing in young professionals who will carry the insurance industry forward.
