When Mervin Curnow finished school, his career as an insurance broker began. That was 42 year ago; and today Mervin and his wife, Lyn, have been running their own business since January 1984, when their Port Shepstone office opened its doors. The couple has never looked back.

The association with the Garrun Group was negotiated between Sandy Guthrie and Mervin, and what's now known as Curnow Garrun was born in August 2002. In the same year, the Curnows' son, Craig also joined the team.

In March 2003, Curnow Garrun expanded its local footprint and set up a presence in Margate under the name Status Garrun.

The Curnows have a long history on the South Coast and are active members of the community. Mervin and Lyn have held various roles in the Port shepstone Lions Club and hold a number of other positions at local level.

Their sense of community extends to their staff, a large number of whom have enjoyed many years service at Curnow Garrun and are equally promintent members of the community
