Smit Garrun came about in 1999 after a merger between the Garrun Group and Koos & Riekie Smit Brokers. The union meant that the Garrun Group could service the greater Limpopo area more efficiently by combining the Smit family’s local knowledge and presence, with the backing of a national group.

Ever since the husband and wife team of Koos & Riekie Smit Brokers was established in 1993, this remarkable twosome established a reputation for integrity, reliable counsel and exceptional client service. In 2005, Koos won the coveted accolade of ‘Limpopo Business person of the Year,’ which was the first time a broker had ever done so.

Smit Garrun has been appointed as the preferred broker by the Transvaal Agricultural Union and a sole mandate for 10 years was signed by the Northern Region. To date, the support from the local farmers has been tremendous.

Locally, Smit Garrun supports a wide range of schools, sports clubs, children charities, welfare organisations and community projects. Contributions are made either through sponsorship and donations, as well as the arrangement of liability cover for large events that take place from time to time.
