Background Information:
The company was founded some 49 years ago by Mr Manny Garrun, as a single man insurance brokerage. The organisation has grown in both size and scope since inception. As the financial services industry has changed so has the role of the intermediary. We have evolved a philosophy at Garrun Group that the broker provides a range of quality services. We have thus built the Group on the principle of providing clients with the highest level of technical advice and personalised service with regard to the entire spectrum of their insurance needs.
In keeping with the objectives of the Group the Directors and Executive Consultants specialise in each of the different areas of insurance, whose collective expertise fuse together to provide our clients with the highest possible level of advice and consultancy services. Each Principle is backed by professional administration managers, whose focus is to provide efficient ongoing administration and liaison services to our clients.
Garrun Groups track record has not only fostered good long standing relationships with our clients but has also facilitated a sound working relationship with the underwriters and insurance companies that we represent. The organisation is representative of all the major insurance companies in South Africa, and can thus provide our clients with a comprehensive range of products, objectively analysed to provide the best solution to their range of insurance needs.
The Garrun Group is an active member of the Financial Intermediaries Association for Southern Africa (FIA), and our consultants are continuously kept up to date with new market trends and developments, and as such are able to offer our clients the most up to date information.
The legislative changes driving the South African insurance industry, investment of funds, taxation, health care and employee benefit provision, have all given rise for the need for even more specialised advice and service than ever before. The impact of violence and crime in the short term insurance industry has also brought about changes in risk management techniques. Guidance through the plethora of information required in protecting ones assets and liabilities is provided by our team of experts, who are constantly acquiring information and formulating new solutions to our clients' needs.

Cliff Garrun (B. Comm. LLB. H.Dip. Tax. ACII)
Being responsible for the group administration and finance, Cliff's primary objective is to ensure that the organisation lives up to it's reputation of delivering service excellence. Sophisticated systems are in place, to ensure speed and efficiency of administration and are overseen by Clifford. Having specialised in short term insurance and employee benefit provision for the past 35 years, Clifford has extensive knowledge and expertise in this particular field.
Sandy Guthrie (ACII)
Sandy, with an excess of 30 years experience as a short term insurance broker, is known for his commercial short term expertise. Previously a director of Glenvaal, Sandy has been with the Group for 16 years. He provides the organisation with expertise in the insurance arena, as well as with the integration and management of specialised administration systems, which have been developed to meet the ever changing environment. Sandy has been the key element in building relationships with various underwriters to the extent that we now have significant authority and influence in the placement and servicing of risks.
